It is even more magical when you wake up in a bedroom that is a winter wonderland on Christmas morning. I have always been obsessed with Christmas bedroom decor and frankly speaking, it is my favorite room to decorate during the holidays. As we all are busy hanging the halls and trimming the trees, your bedroom needs some festive love as well, you get to spend a third of your life there!
Why Your Bedroom Needs Christmas Magic
Look, I get it. You may assume that Christmas decor should be in the living room where the guests can view it. However, there is the twist of it all, which is to make a homey Christmas nest in your bedroom, and feel snug and cozy every night and morning throughout the season. Also, it is much closer and more personal than your social environments.
1. Twinkling String Lights for Instant Warmth

Warm white string lights around your headboard or your window frame will be the best Christmas cozy. I discovered this trick back in my younger years when I would leave my fairy lights on long after New Year and this was the best mistake I made!
Creative Light Placement Ideas:
Shelf lights around your headboard cascading over your headboard and bed • Shelf lights around your dresser mirror and window sills to give you that magic glow.
Pro tip: Select battery-operated LED lights that have a timer. You do not want to be hassled with cords on the floor or forget to switch them off at night I can assure you of that!
2. Festive Bedding That Screams Comfort

Bedroom Christmas decor mostly is your bedding. I mean replacing those summer linens with a thing that makes you wish that you could hibernate till it was spring.
Some of the most important bedding changes that are possible include: • Plaid flannel pillowcase (they are not lumberjack items only) • Rich burgundy or forest green sheets. • A thick knit blanket in either cream or white • Christmas-themed accent pillows (but do not go overboard we are not decorating a mall display)
Bedding Type | Best Colors | Comfort Level |
---|---|---|
Flannel Sheets | Deep red, forest green | Maximum cozy |
Knit Throws | Cream, white, gold | Perfect for layering |
3. Mini Christmas Tree Magic

Who knows? Christmas trees are only supposed to be in the living rooms. A dresser top or nightstand Christmas tree is small and adds immediate festive to your room without cluttering it up.
I have a 2-foot tree my own that I hang with small ornaments and battery operated mini lights. This has turned out to be my new favorite Christmas ritual and it is to decorate my own tree and enjoy a hot cocoa in my pajamas. A far preferable way than bickering over the position of ornament on the family tree, I think.
4. Scented Candles and Winter Aromatherapy

Want to know a secret? No visual decor can put you directly on Christmas morning like the proper scents. I am crazy about cinnamon, pine, and vanilla candles at Christmas time.
Top Christmas bedroom scents:
Pine and fir to that fresh tree smell, cinnamon and clove to warm, vanilla and sugar cookie to sweet and peppermint to that crisp winter feel.
But always have this in mind never leave candles burning when you sleep! LED candles are excellent in atmosphere but not fire hazardous.
5. Cozy Christmas Throw Pillows

That may seem elementary, but listen. The right throw pillows will fully change your bed atmosphere. I replace my usual pillows with a Christmas pattern, texture and color every December.
Seize pillows that have: • Plaid designs in classic Christmas shades and textures that imitate fur, a scream declaration of winter wonderland, an embroidered snowflake or reindeer (as long as you like that), and gold or silver metallic accents.
6. Christmas Garland Around the Room

Garland does not belong on staircases and mantels. I have artificial pine garland that I hang around my bedroom door-frame, and up my dresser. It establishes this unifying Christmas flow all through the room.
There are creative ways of putting the garland: • circling doorways and windows, • over the top of your headboard, • over the top of your dresser mirror, • around picture frames on the walls.
To add a bit of magic, add some lights on your garland which are battery-powered – why not go the extra mile?
7. Winter Window Treatments

Have you ever felt that your room is so different with the change in curtains? The best reason to replace those light summer panels with something that is more season appropriate is Christmas.
I will suggest heavy and dark fabrics with dark colors such as burgundy, forest green, or navy blue. Velvet curtains are particularly beautiful and they give that opulent winter touch. You can keep your room warmer too with them as well as cute!
8. Festive Wall Art and Mirrors’

Your walls should have some Christmas love also. I am not referring to ho-ho-ho signs (unless you do that sort of thing – nothing wrong with that!). Get more into winter scenery, warm cabin, or fancy Christmas wreaths.
One of my tricks: a Christmas wreath on the mirror in your bedroom. It is mirror-like to the lights and greenery, and that makes your area twice as merry.
9. Christmas-Themed Rugs and Floor Decor

Christmas morning and cold floors do not go together. Christmas area rugs at all make your bedroom look warmer and more welcoming.
Find rugs that have: • Deep red or green undertones Deep undertones prove more comfortable when you have to stand on your feet a lot. • Plaid or geometric designs Plaid or geometric designs are great when it comes to more comfortable feet. • Non-slip backing To ensure safety.
10. Seasonal Nightstand Styling

A small Christmas touch would be a perfect spot to include in your nightstand. I dress it up in practical and festal accessories that put a smile on my face whenever reaching out to charge my phone.
Christmas necessities in the nightstand: • small battery-operated candles, a handful of Christmas decor in a decorative bowl, a book or magazine with something about Christmas, a little potted plant of red berries, your own special holiday mug to have bedtime tea.
11. DIY Christmas Memory Display

This one’s close to my heart. Prepare a little Christmas memory area with photographs of previous holidays, Christmas cards of people who love you, or even little things that are a joy to you.
I have a small easel set in my dresser, onto which rotating Christmas pictures are placed over the course of the season. It is as though I had a revolving exhibition of vacation happiness in my bedroom.
12. Temperature and Lighting Control

This is one of the things that most people forget about the real atmosphere in your Christmas bedroom. You want to be warm, but not too hot that you cannot sleep under all those festal blankets.
Creating the perfect Christmas bedroom atmosphere:
Warm light light bulbs (2700K or lower) • Combine various light sources to create a depth • Keep the room a bit colder than normal (those extra blankets are warm) • Think about a small space heater to use those extra chilly nights.
Final Thoughts: Making It Your Own
Appearance, Christmas bedroom decor does not entail adhering to rules or creating the magazine ideal. It is all about being surrounded by things that make the season special and personal.
Begin small perhaps some string lights and a new throw pillow. Check out the feeling, and add in other elements to speak to you. The idea is to make a space that you really want to be in, not somewhere that is aesthetically pleasing on instagram.
Your bedroom ought to be your Christmas retreat place where you can get away with the holiday rush and just relax in the warm, seasonal ambiance. Sweet dreams and sexing out! 🙂
